(Winter Springs, FL – January 23, 2025) Streamline Technologies, Inc. is proud to announce the successful implementation of a cutting-edge real-time flood forecasting and early warning system, FloodWise, developed for the coastal fringe areas of Manatee County, Florida.

This transformative project, commissioned by the Manatee County Public Works Stormwater Division, marks a significant milestone in enhancing the county’s ability to forecast, prepare for, and mitigate the impacts of coastal flooding.

Designed to address the unique challenges of storm surge and tidal flooding, the FloodWise system delivers critical insights several days in advance. This innovation is crucial for protecting infrastructure and lives in coastal areas that are particularly vulnerable to the effects of severe weather events.

"With the successful implementation of FloodWise, we are now able to forecast where flooding will occur, how long it will last, and its extent – transforming how we prepare for and respond to flood events,” says Kenneth Kohn, PE, Senior Project Engineer, Stormwater Engineering Division, Manatee County Public Works.

"This truly innovative tool has already proven its value, empowering Manatee County to safeguard our coastal areas with greater precision and confidence."

Through FloodWise, key decision-makers and emergency response teams have access to real-time, actionable data as well as the ability to anticipate flooding events with storm surge forecasting,  implement proactive measures to protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure, and streamline recovery efforts by providing detailed flood risk analyses.

FloodWise represents a significant leap forward in coastal resilience, empowering Manatee County and communities from coast to coast to address the growing challenges of shifting climate patterns and the increase in major storm events.

With this innovative solution, the county is better equipped to safeguard its residents, infrastructure, and natural resources.

F. Warren McKinnie, PE, CFM, GISP, Senior Manager, Water Resources Engineering for Streamline Technologies, added, "FloodWise is a momentous development for Manatee County. With the ability to forecast flooding several days in advance, this project empowers the county to protect its residents better, strengthen resilience, and safeguard its community for years to come.
