Abstract:
Our recent webinar, AI & Digital Twins for Resilience in Florida, explored how data-driven innovation is reshaping the way community officials anticipate, plan for, and respond to increasingly complex flood risks. Moving beyond industry buzzwords, the discussion demonstrated how digital twins and artificial intelligence are already being operationalized across Florida to support a proactive, predictive approach to resilience, one that replaces reactive disaster response with informed, forward-looking decision-making.
The webinar highlighted how real-time digital twins, powered by physics-based modeling, machine learning, and continuously updated environmental data, enable communities to simulate storm events, evaluate compound flooding impacts, and visualize consequences several days in advance before hazards occur. Streamline Technologies’ innovative FloodWiseTM real-time flood forecasting system served as a real-world example of this capability in action, showcasing how continuous forecasting, scenario modeling, and intuitive user-friendly dashboards empower emergency managers, utilities, and public works teams to prepare earlier, allocate resources more effectively, protect critical infrastructure, and accelerate recovery efforts.
By integrating AI-driven analytics with high-fidelity geospatial digital twins, the session illustrated a new resilience paradigm, one capable of addressing Florida’s unique vulnerabilities to rainfall-driven flooding, storm surge, and compound flood events.
As shifting climate patterns intensify, this webinar underscored that these technologies are no longer theoretical. They are proven, scalable tools already delivering measurable value and impact across municipalities, counties, and water management districts, positioning Florida communities to face future uncertainties with greater confidence, clarity, and resilience.
