Innovate and Enhance: What's New in StormWise v4.08.03

At Streamline Technologies, we constantly strive to push the boundaries of innovation in water resources, stormwater management, and flood forecasting forward – but we don’t stop there. We're committed to elevating the user experience of our offerings for you, our esteemed customers.

That is why we were so excited to announce the release of StormWise v4.08.03, packed with exciting new features and key enhancements to revolutionize your modeling experience. In this blog, we’ll explore just a few of these new enhancements, so let’s dive in!

What's New in StormWise v4.08.03:

StormWise v4.08.03 introduces a suite of exciting new enhancements for both StormWise Pro and Expert users, such as:

  • Built-in Unit Hydrograph UH100 from the USDA: Now available as a selectable option for your projects.
  • Centered StormWise Forms: Forms will now open centered over the primary application window, streamlining your workflow.
  • Improved Fence Tool Functionality: Enhanced usability for better mapping and data visualization.
  • Right-Click Deletion: Easily delete records from the Map Layer Manager, Scenario Manager, Background Image Manager, and Surface Manager with the simple click of a button.
  • Active Drape Tool Command: The drape tool command remains active for added convenience.
  • And More!

But let’s take a closer look at a few significant features that can elevate your modeling capabilities, such as the Initial Abstraction Ratio (Ia/S) feature.

Introducing User Specified Initial Abstraction Ratio (Ia/S)

The Initial Abstraction Ratio (Ia/S) is a parameter in the Curve Number Rainfall Excess method with a typical value of 0.2 (default). StormWise now allows you to adjust this parameter for each Simple Basin and/or each land cover type associated with Manual/Mapped Basins. You can also globally specify Ia/S for each simulation.

Key Adjustments:

  • Global Edits in Simulation Manager: Adjust the Ia/S value globally for your project with ease.

  • Manual/Mapped Basins (Distributed Method): Specify Ia/S for individual land use types in the impervious lookup table. Any non-zero value entered here will override the default.

  • Simple Basins (Lumped Method): Set Ia/S for individual basin, ensuring tailored runoff modeling for various scenarios.

These options allow for better representation of varying conditions within a given watershed, improving runoff estimates.

Introducing the UH100 Built-in Hydrograph

The UH100 is now included as a built-in hydrograph option for StormWise users.

This option is especially useful when modeling areas with flatter terrains such as coastal Florida to more accurately represent the runoff rates. In addition, this particular unit hydrograph and peak rate factor is required by some permitting agencies.

Be sure to always consult with your local regulatory agency on appropriate unit hydrographs and peak rate factors for your particular project.

Complex Water Management Made Easy
