  • Record Post-September Hurricanes: Seven hurricanes formed after September 25th, setting a record for this period.

The U.S. experienced significant impacts from several hurricanes this season:

  • Hurricane Beryl became the earliest Category 5 hurricane on record on July 1st, 2024, due to exceptionally warm ocean temperatures typically seen later in the hurricane season.
  • On July 8th, 2024, Hurricane Beryl swept ashore over the Gulf Coast of Texas as a Category 1 hurricane after devastating impacts in the Caribbean, particularly Grenada.

Hurricane Debby

  • After making landfall in the Big Bend region of Florida, as a Category 1 hurricane, Hurricane Debby weakened to a tropical storm as it moved across southeastern Georgia.

Hurricane Francine

  • Hurricane Francine made landfall as a catastrophic Category 2 hurricane on the southern coast of Louisiana south-southwest of Morgan City on September 11th, 2024.

  • Hurricane Helene made landfall as a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane near Perry, Florida, on September 26th, 2024.
